I began to watch this American Soap, and really got a lot from it. So here I'd like to share with you something I found classic and meaningful.
Season 1 Episode 3
"However hard you think it is having a kid, just double it."Season 1 Episode 4
"K: What makes this all worth it?
A: What makes it worth it is the connection. It's the bond you feel. They're yours, you know, and you're part of them."
"Kristina: Hey, baby, I guess your dad is just more scared than anything.Season 1 Episode 8
Heddie: Of what?
Kristina: Of losing you."
From Camille, the grandmother:
Season 1 Episode 9"You cannot live their life for them. Really. The best you can do is help them avoiding making some of the mistakes you made. That's about it.""Daughters hate their mothers. I think it's a law of nature. But you know what? Then they come back."
Between Adam (A) and his daughter Haddie (H):
H: Dad, mom told me that I could go to Steve's house. Then you told me that I had to stay home and watch Max for a little while and I did.A: Right.
H: But then you came home and told me that I couldn't go to Steve's house because you didn't like the kind of bra I was wearing.
A: I admit that that was, uh... inconsistent.
H: Inconsistent?
A: I'm concerned about you, Haddie.
H: You are a hypocrite. You would totally let Drew hang out with his girlfriend. You would drive him to hang out with his girlfriend. But because I'm a girl, you treat me like I'm 12 years old.A: It's because you're my daughter. Okay? And you're not wrong. There is a double standard.
H: Yeah.
A: And it's not fair.
H: Thanks.
A: But then again, neither is the world.
H: Okay, well, that's ridiculous.
A: That's the way it is.
(Haddie left speechless.)
Season 1 Episode 12
Between Kamille (K) and Sarah (S):
S: Do you ever worry so much that something bad happening to me that you are stumped out of my fire by accident?
K: I don't know. You know what? We all try to protect our kids. That's what we do. And now they grow up, we cannot protect them any more. And you save yourself a lot of grief, if you accept that fact. I mean, we can be there for them, but ... we cannot protect them. I think this is one of the toughest things about being a parent.
Between Ambor (A) and Sarah (S):
S: You know, when you have kids, if you have kids, there's something you should know, very comfusing thing I don't tell tou. You see so much of yourself in them, you see ...your.... How ironic take on the world
A: Heh, That's from me.
S: You see your smile, your walk, your sense of humor, whatever. And you think they are you. But they are not you. They shouldn't have all of your baggage, your fear and your insecurity and your life experience, because that's not fair. They have their own.
